Newfound's Autumn Glory

harrylichtman

Exceptional storm clouds aided in naturally diffusing the bright sun as it rose over NH's Newfound Lake. Using the 3 stop grad ND filter and a polarizer, two exposures (one for sky, one for trees) was not needed. Marsh photography usually requires a compromise. The trees surrounding the marsh usually peak well before the surrounding hill sides. In this image, I thing the contast in color adds to the image.

Clearing storm clouds add a bit of drama to the marsh colors

surrounding NH's Newfound Lake. Your impressions, suggestions

welcome.

Thanks Atte for you comment. I agree, the sky looks like highlights should be more washed out - maybe too HDR like. The sky was very unusual, and a total of about 5 stops of ND were needed to preserve the details that were in the sky. I tried to maintain them as best I could, since they were observeable. Perhaps the uploaded jpeg lacks some contrast, which may give that effect to the highlights.

Thanks, Harry
