Where is this? ליד תחנה מרכזית Near the Central Bus Station. I have never seen photos of such a thing and am guessing that there are not many of these structures on the world. Seems to me a lot to spend to build for a city without much money. On the other hand, Jerusalem could use some redecorating.

looks like there is somebody who puts systematically 3/3 to everybody... which independently of the quality of the photos, doesn't make sense mathematically... Impossible that everybody is below the average...

Marie, You are correct about the 3s. However photo.netters generally over rate in my opinion including my own photos (excluding anonymous). If not the case where did all the "5s" go? Seems like aside from anonymous it is generally 6 or nothing. Statistically that cannot be; there must be more 5s than 6s. Seems like one is afraid to rate a friend with a 5 like it is some kind of insult to them and he she gives me 6s so I better give them same. And also 7s should at least be able to win honorable mention in a juried show -usually not the case (my opinion). Marie, among raters that have become sort of photo.net friends of mine you are in the few that often gives me 5s and so you are among the few raters that I consistantly trust, Tamara is another like you (sorry guys). However, I think that some of the 3s and/or 4s come from a moderator trying to bring the average rating down to the level where it should be. You know what Marie, when I receive "honost" low ratings I look at my photo as if it were not mine own photo and my whole opinion shifts and I see I should never have posted this "stupid thing" on my folio in the first place. If someone else posted this particular photo "bridge of strings", for critique I'd probably not even open it. If one looks at their own work as if it was not their work the photo takes on a whole different appearance (don't you think?) Why do I like this photo? (1) Because "that whatever it is thing" and its cables are beautiful to me -especially at night,but most won't see it that way; (2) it reminds me of the musical instrument, the harp which is beautiful and sounds beautiful; (3) because its name "Bridge of Strings" is so beautiful (4) and last but not least; because it is my photo. I cannot expect that others will see this the way I do. I was walking home from school. I am glad I took the photo, but I but mayb it belongs in the folder "Photos That People Absolutly Do Not Like. Don't know because I have not looked at the ratings. Since you say it is beautiful I believe it really is (smile). I usually do not rate people I know -because of the above. For others before I give a 3 I usually go first to the bio and then I see from the bio and photo that he/she is such a nice person that I just can't give a 3.Thank you for visiting. Wow, I wrote so much. Sorry, I should not critique my own photos.

 

 

 

Anonyms put bad rates;

People with names put good rates. If the note is average or lower they don't put anything.

Most probably that is why I have few rates on my photos; they are ok, not bad, not good.

Anyway, I know why: I don't have great techniques, a very average camera, no material, and also no software to manipulate the photos.

 

I never put an anonym rate to somebody that I rate openly for other photos.

 

If I did not put a rate, that is because

1) I did not see the photo (my connection is slow, so i don't have the time to see all photos)

2) I did not understand the photo. There are some photos categories I don't understand, I have no idea what is good or bad. (But I am learning.)

 

About to see your photo like if they were not yours: I doubt that you can. At the contrary, I think you tend to be much too negative about your work. What you do is a great portrait of your society; I said that several times, and other agreed with me. This deserves a exhibition in a gallery or a book. but I will not repeat it, you will not trust me anyway, ;-)

Marie, I do agree that I have photos that when seen in toto (that is; all as a group) that they do deserve to be shown. I absolutely trust and believe you. But there are more than enough other photgraphers who also deseve to be shown which are not. I also do not have the finacial resources to pursue showing; This I have told you before. I also told you that if you want all of it then it is yours but you have to go and get it. : ) . You are wrong, I most certainly can see my photos as though they are not mine ...when I choose to. You can repeat as many times as you want because it makes me feel good. Thanks. And, you absolutely do know what is "good or bad" because it shows in your folio and in the way that you rate others.
