marcadamus 1 Posted October 30, 2008 I thought I would post this photograph with that silly numeric rating thing activated to prove that the 3/3 raters really are just mindless zombies. It's nothing more than luck of the draw if you happen to not get hit. Link to comment
anhaga 0 Posted October 30, 2008 ...and it looks like you've been unlucky. Truly, this is a world apart from 99% of landscape shots on this site, and it deserves ratings that match. As an experiment, Marc, I think you've proven them zombified... I prefer your photograph of the same location from the higher altitude in the landscape format, but then that to me is a new favourite on this site. This is a little less grand in scope, but no less exemplary. 7/7 all the way, James Link to comment
Jim_Dockery_Photos 2 Posted October 30, 2008 but the ND filter is a bit too obvious across the sky. I like the rocks in the river and sould like to see a version with a lower perspective that puts more ephasis on them. Kudos for hiking up here on a snowy day, then getting up early to photograph, must have been chilly! I tried to climb the north face many years ago but spent 3 days in the rain waiting on the glacier below it before we gave up and walked down in the clouds, which parted and cleared when we got about here. Such is life. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted October 30, 2008 Yeah, it was fun having the place totally to myself. I hiked in during the storm so I'd hopefully be there when it cleared. As for a lower perspective, I do have some versions taken that way. I like them equally, but the clouds fit best in this frame. The grad effect is certainly just a matter of personal taste. Obviously, I can make the sky as light or dark as I want with the ease, and this just kept my eye on the mountain and felt best to me. Some of the darkening is a result of the ultra wide angle also. Just my personal preferences here, but I appreciate your thoughts. Link to comment
glen_parker4 0 Posted October 30, 2008 I feel cold looking a this. My eye easily follows around and around the image. Great great shot. I guess you're either on a rock or your feet are getting very cold right now... Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted October 31, 2008 The later, Glen. My boots got really cold, and then froze solid. Fortunately, the Robson hut nearby has a small stove in it that I utilized to dry my boots. Link to comment

ewert02 0 Posted November 1, 2008 Looks like you had a great trip. The colors in the sky and in the water in the lake look really nice. I know that it is extremely difficult to master the exposure across the whole frame on shots like this, but you handled it very well. The sky at the top of the frame is maybe just a bit darker than I would like given how light it is just around the mountain, but I am really going out of my way to find a way to critique you because it is pretty tough to do. Thanks. Daniel Link to comment
