I like the image, The fact that you seem to use a small F stop to have details front to back seems to do the trick with me. Most of the times you like a blured background for portraits and this picture shows how there are exceptions to most rules.

I really like the metal -vs- metal relationship these two have. The train - huge and powerful and we all know the metal give it such strength. The girl - small and unsure of her life at this point and we all know the metal piercing gives her some sort of an outward symbol of strength.

 

Both bound for destinations unknown!

Excellent portrait, this! The composition, the expression, the exposure the background, all top range. I wish the lettering at the bottom was smaller though.
