I moved quickly as the sun poked through the small window of clearing on the horizon. The lens was stopped down to created the star burst effect. Rather than taking a single wide angle shot that would heavily emphasize the FG rocks, I opted to move back a little, zoom in a little, and merge 3 vertical images for a more "normal " perspective. The finished image seemed good at first, but in the end I decided to crop of a small portion on the right and keep the sun a bit off center, with the rocks leading the eye toward the great light on the horizon.

A magical moment along the NH coast. 3 vertical images merged, then

slightly cropped from the right. Rather than using a wide angle and

emphasizing the rocks & grasses, I elected to stand back, zoom in,

and take 3 images to cover the expansive view to give a more"normal"

perspective. Your opinions welcome.

Thanks Samuel and Pedro - Regarding the post processing, the blend of 3 images was the most challenging-I tried all of the option available with PSCS3 until the horizon was nearly perfect. I also found that using the simple software that came with my Canon for converting the RAW file gave me much truer colors that a similar coversion in PS. Less adjustment of color balance was needed.

Thanks again, Harry

Harry,

WOW, this is crazy good! I love the sunstar and what an amazing sky! Fantastic PP and exposure control and I love the intimate foreground.

Yeah, Harry, I gotta agree with Michael; this is so good. Makes me want pull up a nearby rock and sip on a nice merlot and watch the sunset. Superb post-processing. I wouldn't change a thing here. Well done. Cheers! Chris
