leo burkey 0 Posted October 26, 2008 Zabriskie Point has an other world quality to it with it's stark barren landscape of stony outcrops. It's pastel colors are due to it's vast minerals deposits and display all the colors of the rainbow.Having already posted the color version I decided to see what the B&W had to offer. My intention here was to produce a full tonal range print, from pure black to white and everything in between. Though your negative may contain all the tones for a full scale print that may not produce the best print or the one you visualized. It is sometimes necessary to shorten your scale for the best effect. Such was not the case here as I was able to include almost all the tonal values. This was about fifteen minutes before sunrise and the foreground was just beginning to fill with the early morning light. The background was receiving much more of this light as it wasn't shielded as much. The white area between the foreground mounds and the mountains is Badwater Basin, a salt flat. I toned this image with Ektalure Cream and selenium. Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted October 26, 2008 "My intention here was to produce a full tonal range print, from pure black to white and everything in between" you succeeded. Given the conditions no small feat. Impressive. Link to comment

mhvetbo 0 Posted October 28, 2008 This is a great great photo, hopefully you can enlarge to at least 22 by 30 inches and print it, 7/7. Cheers from Canada! - Michael. P.S. Oh! by the way," it's" is a shortened form of "it is" surely? Link to comment
