I am not going to view the color version because I find this to be an excellent image. It appeals to me very much. Nice work!

Nicely composed and presented. You are in good company as Ansel Adams has a very similar image on the front cover of his book "The Print." A use of some gradients on the top and right sides could further direct the views eye to your main theme. Just a thought.

As said above, very well done. I like the contrast with the one fern that is lighter compared to the others. The only thing is, for me anyways, the lower left corner is so empty compared to the rest of the shot. Possibly cropping could fix it. I like the B&W it fits the subject well.

Shawn......I'm pleased when you're pleased! :-) Thanks for your visit.

Leo....I appreciate your suggestion. That's now my 'assignment',,,,,I'll have to research how to do the gradient thing. I have no idea. I looked up that Ansel Adams book.....cool....it IS similar. Did you know that Ansel is my middle name? ;-)

Matthew.....I was able to crop a little bit off without compromising the image (I think). Please let me know what you think, and thanks for your visit and suggestion.

When I tried to upload the cropped image I got the following message:

'You have uploaded a photo larger then 630px wide, it will not display inline. Are you sure you want to add this photo to your post?'

So I resized the image a couple of different ways, but every time I ended up with an inferior resolution. It looks awful! What do I need to do to fix it? I appreciate your help with this. And then I'll get rid of this version. Thanks!

Great shot. I do like the revised image even more than this one. I went to see my copy of the Ansel Adams book and yes it looks pretty similar in concept. Congratulations on your great shot.

BTW: I saw your portfolio and it looks great you sure a great eye for this.

Regards,

Alex

I also like the cropped version better. I might vignette the corners to darken the little distracting bits that can’t be cropped out. Otherwise I think the cropped version helps to make the lighter fern more the main subject. Great job!

Alex, thanks for taking a look at my portfolio and your kind comments.

Matthew, Yes, I may try your idea.....it may be just the right finishing touch. Thanks for your visit and comment.

another of my better late than never comments. I've added this to my favorites folio and I think because of its simplicity. Yes, it does remind me of Ansel's famous print but its speak volumes for your being able to " see " the shot to begin with. This is one of your best conversions....RAY

It also reminded me of a famous photo by Adams... Excellent control of tones here, did you get the new editing software...? Hi Christal, how are things. I have been very busy and away from PN for a while, but I will get back into it. I posted some new photos, all 35mm. I shoot mostly with film now. The finals didn't go well, did not have enough time to prepare, mentally and technically... Oh well, I have some more coming up, I'll keep you posted.
