lonebearimages 0 Posted October 26, 2008 This is one of the finest black and white photographs I've ever seen. It just glows with light; and the feeling of the misty conditions in the background among the trees is phenomenal. The full range of tones gives this so much expression too. I am just gobsmacked at the great beauty of this photograph, as well as the technical expertise required to capture and process it. Kudos and congratulations on a job well done, Leo; this really is one of your finest. This is a 10/10 for me; and is going straight into my "Favorites." Cheers! Chris Link to comment
rbanfield 0 Posted October 27, 2008 Just went back to my comments ( over 1200 ) so far since I joined PN. The original shot of this is actually the very first comment that I left on a Leo Burkey photograph. That was August 7, 2007. Since then many comments and many miles traveled with the 3 Amigos. Many lessons learned from a teacher and mentor. Oh, did I mention your red-do on this shot really rocks! Thought I'd throw that in...Lefty Link to comment
leo burkey 0 Posted October 27, 2008 It was a cold gray spring morning as I approached Bridal Veil Falls. I no sooner got out of the car when I was greeted with the cold mist that enveloped the whole area. The closer I got the thicker the mist and the wetter I got. I use my focusing clothe to protect my camera but during exposure calculation and inserting the film backs it got blanketed with mist. It was a constant wiping of the camera and lens which was a never ending task. After about forty minutes and six exposures of three different areas I returned to the car very wet and cold. The 4x5 camera is not for the faint of heart. This is a remake of an image I posted over year ago.My main decision of this image has always been just how misty to I want this image to look. I seem to always strike a balanced, as I've done here but I always have a much mistier version in mind. I will be working on this and be posting it soon for comparison. As my Photoshop skills increase I find that I am constantly returning to earlier images to try a make a better print.Such is the case here. I toned this image in Selenium for it's cool purple tone which I think is a good fit. Link to comment

stp 6 Posted October 28, 2008 This is a beautiful photograph, made even more so with your description of what it took to photograph. I like the range of tones, and I really like their distribution, with clear, dark boulders in the foreground transitioning to gray, misty boulders in the background; i.e., you've captured your experience! jo.cools 0 Posted October 30, 2008 The river looks dreamy and has a nice contrast with the trees and rocks. The composition, I think very strong. Link to comment
