Last Light on the Lake

greglyon

This photo taken using tripod mounted 17-35. Exposure unrecorded, but: spot-metered brightest area added 1.3 stops and 2/3 stops bracketing. Probably @f8. PhotoShop: Curves and Smart unsharp mask. I pulled into the parking area near this small lake an hour or so before sunset. Waited around watching the nice but not spectacular light until these rays shot out across the sky. The effect started as I was packing up...Had I packed a couple minutes earlier I probably would have missed it.

I was about to pack up and go when I thought I saw pink light rays

coming from the fading sunset afterglow. About 5 more minutes later

they were intense enough to be captured here.

Is there enough here to make it rise above a J.A.P.S (Just another

pretty sunset-Michael Reichmann term.) (any suggestions to draw more

out of the dark area using Nikon Coolscan 4000 would be appreciated

too. The gradation to dark-dark blue on the slide just drops to

black here.)
