Very compelling image and treatment. Like it a lot only wish there were less foot traffic at its base. YOur trip to NY was well spent. congrats Kevin, rek.

I'm amazed at this image. I lived in NYC for 10 years and never saw anything like this of a very familiar subject. Excellent perspective.

As a Photographer very interested and practicing in PS, I really appreciate your work/creativity with this shot. I appreciate other comments about foot traffic, I myself enjoy the "noise" as this is N.Y. City and I would really hate a city shot without people. Just my 2 cents worth. Does look a little busy at a tiny little girly size(sorry pc people) but blown up and manly it looks fine. I have a problem with the overall balance though. My eye is drawn to the center(as it should in this shot) then it has a problem with being drawn to the large black overhang.... and distracts me. I have this very same problem with my own work. I can get it right (balance) only sporadically when in my PS mode, which I Find myself in most frequently. I won't give up. I wished for only one quality shot out of a roll in the "back in the film world" and if I can obtain that in this digital world, I'm right on track

Nice Vision.

Chris Parson's critique is interesting, regarding the overhang at right.  When I first saw it, I thought, "bold move," and also that I would have sought to keep it out of the picture, which would have been my loss.  It contributes to the intense urban feeling of the shot, as does the foot/car traffic.  It also adds a strong diagonal.  Having said that, the overhang may be a little too large and dominating; if there was more room between it and the building, it would be better, IMHO.

Kevin -

I love your rendition of this popular building and its surrounding area. I am especially drawn in by the color modification of the sky. This modification renders an avant-garde effect which I find intriguing. The street scene with its varying tones captures the busy lifestyle of New Yorkers. I am captivated by this image.

Just a thought, an experiment of sorts. I would love to see the sky cloned along the entire right side to where it can be cropped at the lower end of the image. This might bring more focus on the the magnificent angular building, creating even more of it's presence in the capture.

Best Regards,

Catheirne
