serdelosreyes 0 Posted October 21, 2008 this is a very strong and telling image. It is crude, but makes me feel sorry about this lady. Good picture, Mier. Regards. Link to comment
myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted October 21, 2008 "crude" is correct. Quality is so poor that I never showed this photo before anywhere. Almost 20 years have passed. If she is still alive what is happening now with her? What does she look like? I cannot imagine but it must be bad. I think she is not alive now. Link to comment
serdelosreyes 0 Posted October 21, 2008 Even what you call "quality is so poor" brings a lot emotion to this image. The sadness of this image is not only shown through this lady's appearance, but also through the image quality. Why did you say she probably is not alive? she had VIH. At least she looks mortally sick. Regards. Link to comment
myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted October 21, 2008 I did not say "she probably is not alive". I just think that she is not alive. She seems to have already about come to an end without any options. Once she cannot make money for a pimp then she is no use to anyone. I think maybe she died on the street or someone killed her. About HIV? I don't know. Link to comment
BK1664882259 0 Posted June 19, 2011 a rather desperate, affecting image. there's an almost wistful quality to the woman's gaze- yet it is such a stark portrait. sorrow & grit. also the bizarre sensation one has looking at a photograph, stepping abruptly into a recorded moment, devoid of real context. there is always a distance with the sort of image that adopt a sort of documentary position - one somehow feels it necessary to look & see such scenes. & at the same time it feels intrusive, the subject rendered rather helpless before the camera lens.
