Christal1664882414 0 Posted October 16, 2008 Please give me your thoughts on how to improve this image. Thanks! Link to comment
derek moore 0 Posted October 16, 2008 Love the colours in this. Nicely composed, exposed etc. I wouldn't know how to improve it, I suppose it all depends upon what you were hoping for when you released the shutter. Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted October 16, 2008 Thanks for your input, Derek. I love the colors too. It's a little out of focus, which I don't mind.....hence the name. I think flowers can look quite nice with this effect. But I am disturbed by the green leaf in the lower left, and I'm not sure what my options are there. Link to comment
leo burkey 0 Posted October 16, 2008 This is well composed and very nicely presented. Very well done Christal! Link to comment
derek moore 0 Posted October 16, 2008 .......I hesitated before I did this, because digital retouching is not my forte and you may think I'm being very cheeky, however I did it with the best of intentions. It occured to me that if you wanted to spend the time, you could clone in some of the surrounding colours and literally hide the green leaf that disturbs you. I spent a few minutes trying this myself and although the results are very crude, it does seem to work, well, to me at least. Regards, Derek. Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted October 17, 2008 I really appreciate your effort on this.......thanks so much!! Gosh, I have so much to learn about editing! I knew you could replace a color, but you've managed to preserve the shadow and the edge of the petal. I'm not sure how to do that.....but I'll learn eventually. And your effort isn't crude at all.....at least not from my end. I hope you didn't spend too long on it on my behalf, but hopefully you learned something in the process too. Thanks again! Pierre Dumas 258 Posted October 18, 2008 Christal, I see you passed to critique only! I'm still fighting with four and three guys and I will always do! Cheers! PDE Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted October 18, 2008 Very good composition and soft colours, Christal. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted October 18, 2008 Derek showed you one way to improve this and that was a fairly easy way to do so. You could also experiment with cropping options, too. Nice colors against the black background. Link to comment
jtipton 0 Posted October 19, 2008 Thanks for the input on Steamboat Rock. I think I doomed the picture to a certain level of darkness by using a polarized filter. I had another idea for gettting rid of the green in this picture. You could just sample a dark color near the target and paint it out. I'll attach a rough example. Regardless, I think this is a great picture. Very nice to look at.-Jim Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted October 19, 2008 Pierre, A.K., Ahmet, Kim, and Jim, Thanks to all for your feedback on this. I love the colors and the asymmetrical positioning of the flower in the frame, but that green thing in the lower corner still bothers me. Jim, thanks for your effort......your method is actually one of the few editing techniques I know how to do, but I was more interested in getting rid of the other leaf in the LL corner. I appreciate your help with this! I'll try to improve this and repost. Link to comment

Christa Binder 616 Posted October 19, 2008 Hi Christal, Pretty color, and I like the softness of the rose. Link to comment
chrisr1 0 Posted October 20, 2008 Beautiful image with very nice colors and tone. I like this composition with the flower in the corner Link to comment
f1_young 0 Posted October 27, 2008 The capture is great. The one critiquer that cloned colors to hide the leaf had a good idea, one that I'm still not good at myself. But tghe colors are beautiful. Nice shot! Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted October 31, 2008 I appreciate all of your kind words on this image. When I improve my editing skills I'll revisit this and try to eliminate the leaf in the lower left corner as was suggested above. I do prefer it, I think. Thanks for visiting! Link to comment
