Breakwater Walk

marshall

I was on the breakwater that evening to photograph sunset color on the harbor and the mountains behind Santa Barbara. As I set up the tripod and waited for the light, I saw this mother and child walking along behind me. I spot-metered the blue sky, focused, recomposed, and shot. As nice as the harbor and mountains are, this is still my favorite shot from that day. In the background, you can just make out Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa islands. Digital alterations: in addition to "normal" photoshop tweaking to return the scanned image to what the slide shows, I cloned out a couple flare spots that resulted from leaving a "protection" filter on the lens (no time to remove, and, well, I just didn't think of it I guess). Truthfully, I don't mind the flare much, but I'm posting it without anyway.
