We have countless hawks out here, but even more turkey vultures. I'm glad to see that one has left us and I admire his fortitude to make it all the way to Maryland with his wobbly flight.

I always hear Americans boasting that in the US everything is bigger. Seems to be true then. To be honest this is one seriously huge sparrow ;-)

Beautiful photo. Excellent lighting. I saw a turkey vulture eating a dead squirrel last week, and would have photographed it, but my camera was at home, and I was pet-sitting, out on a walk at the time.
