Nice shot..the old rusted colors add to the emotion...

Though a little too busy for its own good, the muted colors, strong composition, and subject all make this an attractive and emotional photograph. The light is just right and furthers the mood: setting sun, setting boat. Nice.

Thanks everyone for the comments, and Tim you are right. I also agree that the scene is a bit busy, but couldn't get away from the spectacular light that I found here. I think that the details it brought out in the rope, wood textures, moss , etc paired with the subtle reflections in the water just was something that had to be shared. The scene is actually a cropped down version in which there were a few more posts on the left that just were unneeded clutter to the otherwise busy scene. This is the much better version of the photograph. You made the right call by cropping it as you did.

 

I really like the variety of textures in this shot. And, as a colleague already noted, the rusted surfaces provide for a really nice color contrast with the rest of the scene. Personally, given the subject matter, I don't think this is too busy at all (one person's opinion).
