wingell 0 Posted October 8, 2008 Here's a shot taken on the summit of Whiteface Mountain in the "high peaks" region of New York's Adirondack Mountains. Site of the downhill skiing competition of the 1980 Winter Olympics, Whiteface is accessible by a road and a unique 270-foot elevator carved into the mountain in the 1930s under the aegis of then-Governor and later President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
