elportebonheur 0 Posted October 6, 2008 For hundreds of years people have travelled from all over just to see and admire a little piece of white truffle. . . This gastronomical jewel can only to be experienced at its fullest intensity in Alba, Piedmont, Italy, and in the hills of the Langhe south of Alba and from the Monferrato. October is the height of the white truffle harvest season and also the time of the highest prices and competition among both the finders and buyers. (The price per kilo yesterday was 4080$) The white truffle should be eaten - within three days of it being dug up - with simple foods like scrambled eggs, pasta or rice accompanied by a good bottle of Barbera, Dolcetto, or Nebiolo, all native to the Langhe and Monferrato area – and that’s exactly what I’ve done last night… Link to comment
Ciao! (Max an.) Link to comment

blue-olympus 0 Posted October 7, 2008 Great "Shop" scene, very good b/w shot and also a good documentary from you..very interesting. I do like the people at left and right of this busy scene. The woman acts like she's seen it all before and is "off" and the guy on the left is just staring at the scene.....Congrats. on yet another winner!! Link to comment

knobby6 1 Posted October 7, 2008 You really make truffles and wine sound inviting. Ahhhh, but we have McDonalds and Jack in la box, with quite a rich history. Well, maybe not so rich. Link to comment
denisf1 0 Posted October 7, 2008 I think the pic is ok, what I dont like so much is the bw conversion and his hut, which is destroying the image here for me.. the view.. Link to comment
felixphoto 0 Posted October 7, 2008 Lucky you, El. I have read somewhere that truffles have shown very good results in treating some genetic diseases. Is it true? Nice shot with lovely documentary mood. Link to comment
