pnital 36 Posted October 6, 2008 Ripe photographer.....colorful, well composed, well depicting the atmospher. The timing with the woman at the FG as the main person, but creating kind of a small triangle with the woman and man behind her ,and a bigger one with the line of people in the BG. The color nuances of red it well presented and nicely dispersed in the composition, very nice scene of real everyday life. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted October 6, 2008 Thanks so much. We went to the farmers' market in Des Moines. Since Des Moines, is an agricultural capital, it has a wonderful farmers' market with all manner of things imaginable and even some crafts in addition to the food. I love to go there just to watch the people. I did not come up with any "killer" shots this time, but still enjoyed it greatly. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted October 7, 2008 There's a certain quality in many of your photos that makes it seem that the people have been chiselled into the scene. I can't really explain it and I certainly can't do it myself, but it seems to be a prominent feature of your work - along with the hyper-realistic color. The composition here is especially effective I think, starting with the lady in the foreground then proceeding around clockwise to the man with the cap, the couple holding hands then back to the row of tomatoes growing larger (how lucky) as they approach the foreground. And here we are back at the woman with the hat, still testing the tomatoes for ripeness. Link to comment

rarmstrong 0 Posted October 7, 2008 This is a really great image! Beautiful composition...excellent slice of life and some nice looking tomatoes, too! Regard, Dick Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted October 8, 2008 Actually, I hung around this vendor's table for quite some time trying to get a good image. I never could get everything I wanted and had to settle for this. Besides the color, my favorite part of this image is the little convict up in the window behind the man far left. It is a bail bond place. The little convict is mocking the posture of that man beneath him. Okay, I have a weird sense of humor. Okay? Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted October 8, 2008 Not weird at all....I like the "USA Today" box...because your image is USA today. You are a superb "slice of America" photographer...with a weird sense of humor, which even makes you better! Best regards, Dick Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted October 8, 2008 Thanks. Much appreciated. The sort of weird sense of humor staves off incipient insanity. : >) Link to comment

amalsircar 2 Posted October 9, 2008 David , a good street-shot where one can see the other America. Here there is lot of sun-shine and colours, unlike the gloom and shadow of Wall Street. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted October 9, 2008 Indeed, but before long we may all become street vendors. But for the moment all is well on these streets. Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted October 9, 2008 Let me guess, did the little convict did his time for stealing? The robber seems to be going after the credit cards while the guy with the cap goes after the tomatoes. This is a nice documentary shot of everyday life. When I look at the characters in this shot, I see sort of a circle forming starting with the woman in the foreground fixing the tomatoes, the man with the cap behind her picking one, the woman in the yellow vest, the couple holding hands, the burly guy leaning against the newspaper stand and finally ending with the seller behind the table looking at the distance. I can also make up another circle in the background behind the newspaper vending machines. Link to comment
