dougityb 0 Posted October 1, 2008 Are the missing fingers an issue? Is there too much information on the right (should the composition be more square)? Thank you! Link to comment
bentes_world 0 Posted October 1, 2008 The missing fingers is not an issue to me, because ....... they are not importen here. I know there might be several ways to crop this and for a very short time I tried to imagine how a cropping at the point where here leg is rising from her body would look. i didn't like because the top then looked wrong. Does that make sence to you? What I specially like is you have kept the grass in the fore ground. Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted October 1, 2008 Another pretty model, Doug. I can see her in all sorts of print ads. Love the slight glow on her right and how it accentuates her features. I wish she had a stem in her left hand held close to her face. This might have solved the missing fingers and excess information to the right with a crop. Link to comment
vancouverphotographer 1 Posted October 1, 2008 Nice pose .... the square crop above seems to work because it got rid of a good chunk of the bright highlight in the background. Link to comment
tore 7 Posted October 3, 2008 I like it nice light and good contrast in the colours. Best regards Tore Link to comment
pimderuijter 0 Posted October 4, 2008 Hi Doug, I think the 3x4 crop works well. Nice portrait! Regards, Pim Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted January 8, 2009 I like the original best as it gives the sense of the place and space better... Link to comment
bjscharp 2 Posted January 22, 2009 I agree with Brad here. The original is the best combination of a good model and a good background. The tighter crops might as well have been shot in a studio against a backdrop image. And while the missing fingers are fine by me (it's a natural cut-off, the position of the hands can be easily imagined from the rest of the image), the sudden termination of the arm in the square version DOES bother me. All in all, great portrait, don't change a thing. Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted January 24, 2009 hmm, all these nice comments, and I have ignored them. My apologies, and thanks for everyone's attention. Link to comment
mg 0 Posted January 28, 2009 I'll go with Michael Chang's square crop, and I'd keep level and colors as you initially posted this picture, wiperhaps cleaner whites on the dress and eyes, and less yellow on her skin at picture's left, and a bit less blue and magenta on the right of the pix. But in the end, except for her very nice expression, the framing does really match the tight composition, I think; and yes, I think the missing hand is an issue. These are the 2 reasons why I ended up prefering Michael's square crop. Cheers. Link to comment
