maria_di_liegro 0 Posted October 3, 2008 I like that you did this in b/w. It emphasizes and highlights the period of the architecture, which is very nice. I have a few simple recommendations that I feel would improve the drama and effect of your shot. These would be a little sharpening, pushing the black and white levels to enhance the light and to develop the foreground's row of trees, as they do lack a little definition. Also, I would clone out the antenna atop the church. These are all minor adjustments that would make the shot more cohesive and with more depth. Nice composition here and you chose a good subject to photograph, too. Regards, Maria Link to comment
edelson1 0 Posted October 4, 2008 Maria, Thank you. You raise some good points. I was concerned that over sharpening the image would make the already chiseled appearance a bit too strong. I also find that while I'm sharpening for print, I tend to leave the screen image a bit "smooth" to avoid overcorrection of the final output. I'm interested in your idea of bringing up the definition and contrast of the foreground tree line. I felt the softer foreground helped draw out the lines of the stonework. I'll give it a try and see how it changes the overall texture. By the way, you're absolutely right, BOTH antennas should go. Thanks for that attention to detail. Regards, Henry Link to comment
maria_di_liegro 0 Posted October 4, 2008 Henry, That's a good point about sharpening and the final output for pint. I sometimes like a chiseled appearance to the architecture, but that's just a personal preference for the most part. If you do develop the row of trees at the bottom, I wouldn't mind seeing that.
