Sublime visual poetry! One of your most artistic photographs, Christal. I'd like to see this sharpened just a tad more, and I'd also like to see a thin frame around this. I would remove the explanation in the parentheses too; let the title '75J' stand on its own here. This is superb work; very impressive, Christal! I have a feeling this is one that you may come back to time-and-time again, and continue to tweak on as your PS skills progress. A clear 7/7 for me. Cheers! Chris

A great looking three tiered shot. Chris is right about the name....Great reflection in the water. IMHO I would have moved the horse slightly to the right giving the frame more space to the left. Fantastic shot anyway..Bravo!

Wow! Another beauty in what is allready and impressive folio. Got to agree with our buddy Chris and go for the 7/7 across the board...RAY

Chris.....thanks for your generous praise of this. I like it too. We spent a long time watching these horses and photographing them in different ways. When I sharpened it more, the blades of grass looked a little unnatural, so I backed off. But I'll try it a little more sharpened, and see what you think. I actually had to crop way in on this because I wasn't able to get as close as I would have liked. And can you believe that I still don't know how to put a frame around an image? I have a bunch of others that would be greatly enhanced by framing too. I will do it.....eventually. Thanks for the spot-on comments/suggestions, as usual.

Keith......thanks for your comments and suggestion. I'd like you to know that I actually felt the same way about this photo. I tried the off-center position of the horse, but in this case I really ended up liking it better this way. It's all a matter of preference, of course. I'll look forward to getting back to your wonderful portfolio soon!

Ray.....hey, thanks so much for your email (and passing along my quandary to Chris). He answered me. And thanks for the MANY comments you left on my photos today! I really appreciate your kind words!

Yeah, I likey this! With the tweaks that Chris suggested and a frame this is a real wall hanger. I don't know if the 75J could be enhanced any without being obvious, but dense me, it took a few minutes to understand the title :-)... Mike

Edit:

Here's a version with some minor lighting adjustments. I did remove a floating thing in the water - it kept pulling my eye down. I really hope you don't mind these repost of you photos and if you ever do, just let me know and I'll delete it. Thanks for sharing this, it really is a nice shot... Mike

Another beautiful shot. Always a pleasure. Next time in the Palouse follow State 27 north from Pullman to Spokane. That one beats the 195 for scenery and traffic is sparse. Best wishes Jim

Jim, thanks for the tip. We may have been on that road, but I'm not sure without digging out my map. I can't wait to get back there! Thanks for your support of these photos!

Mike, thanks for being so considerate, but I actually really appreciate the feedback. I'm a visual person (hmmm...did I just say that? I'm actually an auditory person, but never mind). But I love seeing what someone else has in mind. I always reserve the right to disagree though. :) And I actually think it's the highest form of flattery when someone else cares enough to tinker with my work. Now to my photo....I don't know what happened. Based on a suggestion by Chris, I replaced this with what I thought was a more sharpened version. Well, it's the wrong one, so I don't know what happened. I don't have the most organized work flow, which probably accounts for my slowness in getting my work posted. But I really messed this up. I'm including another shot of this. If it doesn't look right, I'll keep trying. This is an image worth investing in to get it to look right. Thanks for your help with this! And tell Martha thanks for her vote of approval!

Ok, the revised version is now at the top. I like the more vivid rendition, but now the horse looks a little splotchy. Some may think the water is a little too blue, but the more my husband and I thought about it, the sky was so blue that day. I think this is more a reflection from the sky, and I think this was pretty true. And as for the thing Michael removed from the water.....hmmm....I don't mind it being there. It kind of balances out the several other stratified places in the water on the right side. Please let me hear your thoughts on this.....pro or con. Thanks for helping me with this. I really do like this image, and my processing skills are not quite as sharp as I'd like them to be yet.

Ok, I'm taking your opinions to heart, and I also asked my husband about this one. He agrees with Michael that the distraction in the water (bottom left) has to go. So it's gone. And Chris suggested framing this. As impossible as this is to believe, there is no actual black frame on my editing program. This one with a white wide mat is the only one available. (It should be replaced within 24 hours), but I'll attach it below so you can see it. I wouldn't ordinarily like this, but the kind of wavy edge to the mat ties in well with the water, so I thought it looked ok. A more experienced eye may have some other opinions, so I'm all ears! Thanks for helping me with this! I have some other horse images similar to this that I'm going to get around to eventually. We had a blast shooting them!

I keep changing my mind on this one. I'm going to scratch the big white mat on this and put just a simple border around it. I don't think the horse is featured prominently enough with the frame and border around it. Who knows, I may change it again. :) Sorry for the vacillating. :)
