alpenglow 0 Posted November 8, 2008 You beat me to it!! I have always wanted to try photographing fireflies over fields in the evening, and have not yet had the chance. For me, watching a firefly ballet over a rural landscape to the serenade of crickets and peeper frogs is a magical experience. You've catured this magic for me in this photo, and in the others of this series. Really beautiful. Mike Link to comment
rblaser 0 Posted November 8, 2008 Thanks Mike! I had such a wonderful time with these photos (and several more that I need to turn my attention to)...they've rated quite wretchedly on photo.net, but still they're not far from what I was trying for. As it turns out, fireflies are VERY difficult to photograph! But spending hours outside at twilight, watching them over the fields, would have been worth it even if none of them had come out. alpenglow 0 Posted November 9, 2008 Rachel, Don't worry about the PN ratings as it seems to me that they often don't reflect the quality of the work presented. Your series of firefly images is a perfect example. And you sound like me when I describe to people the process of photographing the aurora. For me just being out there under those sublime night skies, watching the dancing lights is all the reward I could hope for. Coming away with a few photos that does the experience justice is just icing on the cake. I know how you feel ;-) I grew up back East and hope to one day get back there in the summer so I can try what you you've mastered so brilliantly. Cheers,Mike Link to comment
dave holmes 0 Posted November 15, 2008 I like this the best of the firefly shots. I'm going to have to try this, there's about a million of them in my back yard. Link to comment
