These rolling hills and golden color are just gorgeous. The red barn is just the cherry on top. What plant is making all this golden color? Good shot.. Mike

They're lentils, and they grow every variety except for two in this region. In fact, they had a Lentil Festival the weekend before we arrived. Who would have 'thunk'? My 2 souvenirs from my trip were books....one picture book of the Palouse, and another about Lentils. So I'm now your 'go-to' person for everything you ever wanted to know about Lentils. (I'm such a nerd sometimes, I know). Thanks for noticing all of my new stuff, and for all of the comments you've been making today. It means a lot!

Another great shot. Now I will be forever looking for this red barn. I would bet I have driven by it once of twice. Love the composition and colors. -Best wishes-Jim

Thanks for your generous rating on this, Jim. I wish I could tell you where it was, but I can say that I know it was on one of the main roads. The biggest challenge we had in the Palouse was finding a way to photograph what we wanted. There often were no places to pull over. Fortunately, sometimes there was so little traffic that we could stop in the middle of the road. Next time we go, we'll definitely allow more time and get off the beaten path a little. Let me know if you find this barn!

Such bright colours, it really is a fairytale-like landscape. Must be wonderful to be there, you did a good job here.

I also want to thank you for your comments on my 'balloon'-picture and the photo of Semmie. She really is a very cute dog :-) I now will have a look at your dog-pictures.

Greetings, Els

This whole series is absolutely stunning! This one with all the gold of the field and that wonderful red barn is really good. 6/6...RAY

An eye-catching image with the red and gold, lovely colour and composition, it's a shame the sky is a tad weak. Good image nonetheless, well done.

Beautiful photograph! Superb color palette and contrasts. Very ominous dramatic sky. My only suggestion would be to consider cloning out the high-voltage tension line towers on the horizon. Your composition rocks, Christal! Cheers! Chris

Great shot and wonderful colors. I agree with Derek about the sky; you may want to add some contrast there. I had the same problem as you -- very difficult to pull over, and I was driving a pickup with a large camper on the back. All the more reason to go back and try again.

Gosh, folks, this is just thrilling for me to see one of my photos garnering so much attention. (I'm not used to that!) :) Seriously though, I really appreciate all of your kind remarks and criticisms. Looks like this would make a wonderful 'study' for me with my PS processing skills. I agree with the comments about the sky, so when I get the time I'll try to make some improvements to it. Thanks everyone!

I particularly enjoyed browsing this folder - you show the diversity of the Pacific Northwest so well. I was lucky enough to visit several years ago, and stayed on the San Juan Islands, Lake Crescent and Kalaloch on the coast, but from your photographs I realise there is so much more beautiful environments still to experience! Thank you for sharing.

Hi Christal, I love red barns and this is definitely an eye catching image....beautiful rolling hills, with the barn perfectly placed in the composition...do you see the face on the front....lovely image, well captured.

Thank you for your comments to me, I really appreciate your support. I'm leaving for a weeks visit to my family in Chicago, and will see you when I get back....have a great week...:) Linda
