Our Babe -date of marker unknown

an other strong photo. simply and full of meanings as the real life. Are you sure about the date? sorry, but it seems unusual to me, for that century, the expression "our babe". and the characters too. Where is it?

Andrea, No I am not sure of the date and should remove my guess (mid 1700s). It is a small grave yard, started in the late 1600s near Robbinsville and Allentown, New Jersey -later abandoned. I guessed the date to be sometime in the 1700s because of Debra Lincoln's grave which is a few yards (meters) away and there are not very many graves in there. Debra was the great great aunt of President Lincoln and she died in 1720. See http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=7031853 for explanation. The grave yard is located in the woods surrounded by thick brush, abandoned and not maintained. From the road one would not know it was in there. I do not recall how I found it. Because of Deer Ticks and the thick brush, I could go in only in the coldest part of winter. Yep, I better remove my date. Thanks.

 

 

 

 

P.S Abraham Lincoln's home was in Springfield Illinois and I took the information on Debra Lincoln, his great, great aunt from the Library in Springfild.http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=7031853 The posting of Debra's marker onto photo.net really bombed :-) I do not expect this to do any better.

meir, thanks for the explications. Is interesting, becouse in Italy and in that centuries nobody used to write "our babe" I think that "our" didnt respect the structure of the family in that historical moment. The only important person was the father, and so they wrote that. And Babe (bambino) was too confidential, they wrote just the name.
