Christal1664882414 0 Posted September 28, 2008 We were leaving the Palouse area driving north toward Spokane when we happened to see the moon behind us off to the right. It was so beautifully poised over Steptoe Butte. I hurriedly set up the tripod, as the light was changing rapidly. This was my first try at a longer exposure, but I think it pretty accurately depicts the glow of the light that was there that night. Link to comment
jtipton 0 Posted September 28, 2008 Christal- I have been waiting eagerly for your Palouse pictures. Glad to see one. Steptoe is not a very Photo friendly butte, at least by day. This is a great shot of it. Great first time long exposure. 6/6-Jim Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted September 29, 2008 Thanks for remembering to check back, Jim. I really appreciate it. Stay tuned for more coming soon, hopefully. I'm a little worried that nobody will believe the skies in some of my Palouse shots. They almost look unbelievable in their coloration. I'm so jealous that you live in that part of the country......do you mind sharing where you live more precisely? Link to comment
jtipton 0 Posted September 29, 2008 I live on the South Hill in Spokane. The Northern Palouse is 5 minutes away. Guess I really am lucky. It's easy to take for granted what you have, thanks for the reminder not to. Looking forward to more.-Best wishes-Jim p.s.-Another photographer that has some great Palouse shots: Chip Phillips Link to comment
pankaj purohit 1 Posted September 29, 2008 I very much like the exposure here, only the cutting area of trucks is to concern here, thats destructing the composition. Little keep the sun to right and cover more trucks would have been better I think. Link to comment
criss7671 0 Posted September 29, 2008 Excellent colours and composition! Regards and good luck! Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted September 29, 2008 Great shot! Do you happen to have a version that includes the nose of the left-most truck? Perfect exposure too! I think this could use some sharpening too; just feels a little soft. Good work, Christal; I am enjoying, very much, your postings from your trip. Cheers! Chris Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted September 29, 2008 Jim..thanks for Chip's name. I'll check him out. Another one who has some nice Palouse stuff is Stephen Penland. I'll email you with the name of a book I bought when I was out there......some lovely Palouse shots. Thanks so much for your comment and rating. Pankaj.....thanks for your comment and rating. I have another version of this without any trucks. I'll try to get it posted soon, so please check back and let me know what you think. Ahmet.....always good to hear from you, Ahmet. Thanks for your kind words. Barbu.... I appreciate your kind comment and generous rating. I'll look forward to checking out your portfolio in the near future. It looks like you have some great stuff there. Chris....I knew someone would make that comment about the left side. Unfortunately, there were other vehicles and junk on the other side of the far left truck. I did love the way the light reflected off of the red truck though, so I posted this one. I do, however, have a version without any trucks, and I'll post it eventually. Thanks for your rating, Chris. I always appreciate your thoughts. Link to comment

dacamera 0 Posted September 29, 2008 Hi Christal, I like this image alot though I too am a little peturbed by the slicing of the third truck. The elements all balance well and I particularly like the pattern in the field on the right. The inclusion of the grass at the bottom of the frame makes me feel this is part of an ongoing story. Christal1664882414 0 Posted September 30, 2008 Christa.....good to hear from you, and thanks for viewing so many of my photos. I always appreciate your comments. Rita....you don't look like a beginner to me! I will look forward to viewing your work more in detail soon. Thanks for your visit and rating. Simon...I'm flattered by any remark from you.....seriously! Ya know, now that you and Chris have mentioned this left margin thing, it's beginning to bother me more also. It's too bad I can't do anything about it, but I am going to pull out the shot I have with no trucks and see if I can make something out of it. Look for a replacement photo here soon.....I think I've improved on this one a little. Thanks for your generous comment and rating! Link to comment
