jkilgo 0 Posted September 27, 2008 I like the way this turned out, particularly how the path leads into the dramatic clouds....Boldly going where others fear to tread...I would prefer though that the sign be cropped out on the right. Link to comment
rascal64 9 Posted September 27, 2008 Thank you Jeff. I am so glad that you paid a visit. This was the most unusual landscape I have ever seen. And because everything was black...it prooved a very challenging exposure exercise. I actually made the sign bigger in this image than the original. I thought that it added to the surreal landscape. What might the sign read? If you haven't been there...try to visit...Craters of The Moon in Idaho. Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted September 27, 2008 Interesting landscape, Tiffany. Looks like it might have been created by lava flow. I've never been to such a place but can imagine how it might have been difficult to photograph. Didn't even notice the sign until I read Jeff's comment, but it doesn't particularly look out of place to me, or maybe it's the approaching Halloween that I'm imagining a few scarecrows scattered about would look interesting. jkilgo 0 Posted September 28, 2008 I think what drew me in to this image initially was the connection between the two children...the older one appears to be cautioning the younger to the unknown perils ahead...the tones and textures also drew me in and while I've heard of this place we've never made it out that far west....(only skirted through Idaho on our way to Montana a few years ago). I'm not sure why but the sign just doesn't work for me...I guess it is just how I see the other elements of this image...anyway, still a great capture. Jeff. Link to comment
rascal64 9 Posted September 29, 2008 Thank you Michael and thank you Jeff for the return visit. Michael...I love the idea about using this landscape as a canvas. A lot of interesting textures came out of this place. I will probably try more arty stuff with these images. Jeff...sign...sign...everywhere a sign. I agree that the single sign may not be enough here and could simply be distracting. Perhaps some birds....a lone tree another sign or a moon might add to the single sign. Link to comment
