dberryhill 3 Posted September 24, 2008 I wonder how many who view this will remember Green Stamps. My mother saved them religiously, and I have a vague recollection that she got some pretty nice stuff. I wonder what kind of business this was. I love the scene. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted September 25, 2008 This picture is the perfect expression of that ruined corner of my mind that still remembers my mother's drawer full of S&H stamp books. Link to comment

jeffl7 0 Posted September 28, 2008 Crumbling, but still with a lot of character. May that be said of all of us. I like the rich blue sky, which makes the tan bricks pop. The lens distortion works well pulling everything in, exaggerating the sense that everything is collapsing in on itself. I miss green stamps. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted September 30, 2008 There are quite a few of us old farts on Pnet, so I did not worry too much that folks wouldn't know about them. I can remember licking the stamps and putting them into the books, with the hope that they would be used to obtain something for me that our family's stretched thin budget could not normally afford. That rarely happened, but hope always sprang eternal. Just going through that redemption catalog was enough to make ones hopes soar. We get old, and there are not many things that can do the same for us. Ah, youth..... Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted September 30, 2008 Yeah, we are old. But it seems like only yesterday. On the other hand so far away at the same time. How does that work? Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted September 30, 2008 I think Jack, Doug and I are antiques. But in good condition, mind you. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted September 30, 2008 I know the lens distortion bothers some, and I'm glad that is not the case for you. I am not terribly opposed to it in general, because it can add a character. Then, of course, I could just be saying that to cover up for my laziness. Link to comment
