knobby6 1 Posted September 23, 2008 This is part of the courting routine done by the royal terns. First time I have been able to get close to them. They nest on the islands in bolsa chica, but unlike the other terns they only fish in the ocean. Link to comment
ericgerberphoto 0 Posted September 24, 2008 Excellent capture Monte. How did you get so close to them? Link to comment
elportebonheur 0 Posted September 24, 2008 Very very impressive! I like your extreme low shooting angle, sharpness and dof. You've done some effort here...Compliments and as Finley Quaye said: 'Nothing can compare To when you roll the dice'... Link to comment

robert becker 0 Posted September 25, 2008 Nice one, Monte. Too bad the birds in the background are just a little distracting to me, otherwise I like the eye contact. Link to comment
robert becker 0 Posted September 25, 2008 I just looked at your ratings on this photo and find it appalling that three people have rated this a 3 on originality as of this moment. Come on now! Surely this species isn't all that common to rate a 3 on originality! Link to comment
dandem 1 Posted September 25, 2008 Great one, Monte. The low angle in refreshing. Well done. Regards, Lawrence Link to comment
kathyb 34 Posted September 25, 2008 Great shot, Monte! The background could easily be eliminated but I still like it fine the way it is. Link to comment

cherlyn 1 Posted September 26, 2008 Well, the courting game seem to have met with some arrogance. Just look at her nose in the air :-) Nice shot. Link to comment
