antoniodiaz1 0 Posted September 23, 2008 Me gusta. Muy dramatica (entiendase por dramatica como representando una historia) Link to comment
soniam 6 Posted September 23, 2008 Wonderful mood, expression and effect. Great perspective. Looks like it is raining and I'm completely distracted by the laundry on the line :) Not that it shouldn't be there - it just adds to the frustration and hopelessness of the day. 6/7 anonymous Link to comment
martinkraft 0 Posted September 23, 2008 Excellent picture. Without exaggerating this is what I understand as Art, in the higher level of the meaning. It looks like a painting, and it is also telling us a story of some human being, out there, somewhere in this diverse world. I’d love to know the details of this picture and how did you manage to get that special effect on this sample. I will definitely check your portfolio. Thanks for sharing this image with us! ldavidson 4 Posted September 24, 2008 Giedrius, I agree with Martin's comment above. This really grabbed my attention and held it. The pained expression on the man's face, as he sqints into the rain, with frightened little dog on his shoulder really evokes empathy and concern. The world they are in looks so bleak, harsh and devastated. The clothsline adds a touch of humanity, the little bit of pink and blue colour seems to a bit of hope to the cold bitter surroundings, even though they are being soaked. This is impressive, so well done. All the best. Link to comment

mikhail_r 0 Posted September 28, 2008 Very Lithuanian... one more musterpiece of the great school we all admired (but no one could ever imitate) those days in the gone-away-USSR. P.S.: Looked through the whole of your portfolio... not all the pictures are up to the highest level of the famous Lithuanian tradition but I found a couple of other exctllent shots, too. Thank you - and best wishes. Link to comment

rnandwana 0 Posted October 14, 2008 PN continues to show what great picture are through POW. This is classic except on a personal front the laundry across the line could have been made subdued. It should be there as it emphasises the characterisation of the place that this is no high street living. compliments Link to comment
starvy 7 Posted October 14, 2008 lovely tones, the best use of hdr by miles. you seem to have really caputured the mood of winter rain here and how bleak life can be. Link to comment
paulf1 35 Posted October 14, 2008 An inspired choice for POW. It has all the interest and qualities already mentioned above in abundance but also I ask myself - was it posed or a genuine 'decisive moment'?; is the rain authentic? - the gentleman's coat and the dog don't appear to be wet; what equipment was used? Whatever the answers it remains a tour de force. Paul F Link to comment

This is NOT HDR. It does have good tonal range but it's not HDR. I really do like the image. In my opinion, it could do without the post processing rain or weathered effect. Link to comment
davidmorrow 0 Posted October 14, 2008 I agree with Will King. Excellent photo but would prefer it without the post-processing of the added texture overlay. Link to comment

pietje 0 Posted October 14, 2008 realy a great picture - no - image , with much good feeling of drama and telling a whole qstory in one image.Everything points in the same direction : The man's face, the dog in search of protection, the rain, the water on the ground, even the laundry and the trees without their leaves. And wath a beautyfull extraction in these grey tones with desaturated colours.Realy a unity in all the aspects of the composition. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted October 14, 2008 This is an amazing photograph. The muted coloration is a significant element in the overall mood and setting of the photograph. It would work just as well, perhaps bettwe, in B&W. I love the varied contrasts and textures, and especially the looks on the man's and dog's faces. The photograph does an exceptional job in capturing the character in the man's face. (And, btw, I think the clothesline adds to the photo's effect.) Giedrius, I would not insult you by placing a numerical rating on this photograph. As at least one other poster has indicated, you have created a work of art. I am grateful that you have shared it with us. Link to comment
