Glad you like the latest shot of her :-). I am very happy with some of the technical aspects of this photo - The lighting, the focus, the depth of field, the composition, the low contrast B&W conversion. But in achieving these (personal goals, they may not suit everyone obviously) I feel I have missed the "person". This shot isnt filled with much personality or a particularly interesting expression sadly, which is odd as it doesnt really reflect the moment... I guess I just caught a vacant glance.

One thing for sure, I will NOT rest until I get this right! If only she wasnt so camera shy I would get more practice I guess ;-)

Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Richard,

Did you shoot this in Colour and then converted to B/W? Have you ever used the “Lightness Channel” method for Colour to B/W conversion?

I truly liked the blank stare in this shot. In my experience [which is very little] the best looks come from “Camera Shy” people. So don’t give up on her.

A shot taken outside with just natural lighting just after sunset. A700 &

50/1.4RS @ ISO400 & f/2.2. Your thoughts are welcome. Thanks for

looking, Rich

Hi Julius,

It was converted to B&W later in PS yes, i used the method of tweaking individual channels. "Lightness channel" is similar or the same thing? I'm not sure. When i used PS elements 5.0 I used to go to hue/saturation and then select each colour and tweak them via the "lightness"...

Thanks for that encouragement! I won't give up on her at all, as much as she may want me to ;-). There will be many more shots. i contemplated another flash and a couple of umbrellas at one stage, but I know she would only run away :P.

Richard,

I love this shot. Very candid and, well, I don't know the girl but I do feel that you have captured her here. Only thing I think would improve this picture is if she was not looking so far over, if here eyes had just a little white on the other side. Since she doesn't want top pose to begin with I don't expect she would take direction too well either. All the best!
