(I will give my humble opinion), about the shot it is not a critique it is only about your question. If I would shot this bird I had used a 13f aperture depending on the light condition, as i can see here it looks like that you had enough light to use a narrow aperture, the composition I would shot the entire bird and not centering it on the image, I always shot with a bit more space around the main subject it always possible to crop later in the PC. and that would lead to a sharper image, that is my thought that I would like to share, but if you are happy with this beautiful image is far more important than my bla bla here .
