donpaulson 0 Posted September 18, 2008 I photographed this Spirit Bear (the legendary white black bear) on Princess Royal Island, B.C. I also photographed this authentic hand carved Spirit Bear mask and then combined the two photographs. My hope is to portray the First Nation People's legend of the Spirit Bear. I would appreciate any suggestions or thoughts you may have... Thanks, Don Paulson Link to comment
ronda 0 Posted September 18, 2008 Don I like this it looks nice. I might have made the mask a little smaller and placed it higher up in the corner of the photo with a little more of the background creek showing in the bottom of the photo. (I have no clue how to tell you how to do this I know its layers and masks but which mask is the question) But that is more my personal preference and not artistic ability. Link to comment

albert_wilson 0 Posted July 16, 2009 Who did the spirit bear carving? If this isn't your carving: did you get the carver's permission; and if so, why didn't you put his or her name to it in your presentation? Just to let you and your readers know; Indian (this is the correct term to use by the way, for we are not 'First Nation(s)'; 'Canadian or American Indian(s)'; or any other term being used) carvings and paintings were never considered to be art, this is a Non-Indian concept (a.k.a. European concept). Before the 'Whites' (a.k.a. Europeans) influences [much being negative in impact], Indians looked upon their carvings and paintings as REMINDERS of our connection to the CREATOR-GREAT SPIRIT. This is how we lived our belief, rather than periodical homage(s) while carrying on in another way, especially doing harm unto others. Link to comment
