I would like this picture A LOT more if the mud/shore at the bottom was cropped out. Excellent photo none the less.

Lines and light are really nice here. Pezrhaps the colors area tad too strong for me, but that's ok. So, where have u been all this while ? Just saw that you restarted uploading pictures this month ?

Those colours are a bit vivid for me too these days. I assume that you have pushed a few sliders or is this as it was? I think that a small crop from the bottom would improve the shot considerably. The mud and greenery conflict with the rest of the image.

Interesting with the suggestions to crop out the bottom..It didnt come to my mind at all..before now. Have to agree the comp will benefit significant. At the same time it will get a kind of a "semi abstract" feel to it...i guess i have to give it some time..

Jeff... it was close to dark, and s bit less contrast in the sky, and water, but not very different. when you use 3 GNDs you squeze out the colors.

some tech details: F11, 20 sec, ISO 100, manual mode.

This did not look far from what my camera LCD screen showed, but when it arrived on my PC..it was very dark,,,wich have happened to all my "borderline" shots with D80...

For what it's worth, I personally wouldn't crop at the bottom. Firstly because I think the 2x3 ratio is better than a 4x5 ratio or such for the several horizontal stripes are nicely "piling up" here. Then Jeff wrote the following: "The mud and greenery conflict with the rest of the image." I have to agree with him, but I found that, precisely, very interesting: "beauty and mud" sort of thing....:-) Gives an almost metaphysical touch to the picture, which may not be suitable for a tourism brochure, but which I like a lot in a more artistic context. Cheers.

Toned down works for me. What I don't like in the FG is the messiness of the greenery. It's that contrast between smooth and messy that I found jarring, hence the suggestion to lose a little only.

I know exactly what you mean by the GND effect on longer exposures. I have been using a grad and ND combo lately. The colours that the longer exposures produce can be quite surprising at times.

I'd say that the greens toned down works for me too, but I prefered the reds and blues of the originally posted version. Cheers.
