Female nudity is always nice but as a work of art, this picture misses any point.

It has no context and is of inferior quality.

The only positive is the female face which lights up the photo, although it is no doubt on its way to ruin.

You are an idiot, and this is the most ignorant comment I have ever recieved on photo-net. This is a documentary project. I am not posing these people! I am not trying to photograph beautiful nudes. And I certainly would not presume to know this woman's future. Have you ever heard of Larry Clark?

I will leave it for others to decide whether calling another person names is the intelligent way to deal with criticism.

Some of my comments were not even directed towards your accomplishments, I simply feel sorry for the folks portayed here.

Upon another observation of this picture however, I must repeat that this photo is simply an inferior one.

I believe that a true photographer, like any other artist, is able to take the bad with the good.

While I understand the documentary factor in your series, a single picture has to still be judged as a single moment.

I wouldn't be too worried if I were you though; clearly some folks enjoyed your work.

It's just too bad that your reaction to criticism (whether it was warranted or not in your eyes) did not match the theme you were trying to portray. Only the picture seems to be of adult material.

No, unfortunately I did not hear of Larry Clark. I have therefore took it upon myself to take a look at his work (I asumed that you were speaking of an artist and not this guy up here) and I found his pictures interesting. Disturbing and controversial but interesting none the less. Nothing wrong with a little controversy anyway....

I can see that you were probably influenced by him but honestly, one cannot see the parallel in the quality of your work (I am assuming that you were trying to draw some form of parallel by bringing his name up).

I am not saying that you couldn't be as good or even better than Mr. Clark; it's just that his pictures are in a different league at the moment, from let's say this one.

I do hope that you understand a bit better where I am coming from and that you might just realize that your personal attack on me (true, I am an idiot at times; however you had no way of knowing this, judging simply by my comments) was perhaps a bit rash and premature.

 

 

I admire your patience Bill. Having read this, I for one will never leave a comment under his work other than to me, yes, the photo has no visible context and it is of inferior quality. I'm a lecturer in archeology specialized in the Komnenos dynasty, but there are a lot of idiots and ignorents among us too I suppose.

... to Mr. Ferencz… not liking the picture for it's aesthetics, composition, tonality, etc. is perfectly legitimate. But it is your ‘feeling sorry for the people portrayed here’ what is blatantly fraudulent. You’re misreading and confusing your own unresolved fears, and, intimidated by what you don’t understand, you feel 'sorry' for the party revelers we see in the pictures!

 

Take another look. Empty your mind of prejudice – if you can – and take another look. A CLOSER look. Understand what I mean by a ‘closer look’? You may very well be an idiot, but here’s another chance to finally see what the picture shows: groups of celebrating adults, happy, well tended people! Joyful fellow American citizens, having a whole lot of fun. That is all that you SEE. It is what is there, isn't it?
