I posted this image on another site and it received the following comment.

"you sick bastard. what is the actual concept of this photograph?"

I thought I would post it here to see if anyone could enlighten the gentleman. I am guessing he is not a fan.

Feedback appreciated.

I don't see this as a photograph that needs any sort of "concept." I actually see this one as more of a portrait than anything else, and a good one at that. You continue to find and photograph interesting looking people. If I shot color, I'd wish my color management skills were as good as yours. People who take the time to really look at this photograph will appreciate all the detail in it.

With the exception of the red socks this is a well done shot. I find the red socks to be a real distraction. Were this a nude, they wouldn't be objectionable.

You might also consider having the model here on her toes next time. The flat foot breaks the flow.

I disagree with Glenn's comment about flow, the model's foot is aligned with both her left arm and the chilie in the lower right corner so there is no problem there.

I like the colours and the pose. Overall a great picture, the earlier comment must have been from a real puritan.

Jim, I am glad you saw this image and I am glad you like it even if it is in colour. I was very fortunate to photograph this lovely girl. What is interesting is that she found me. I wasn't going to post this for critique. However when I saw the comment that someone left on the image, I thought why not? Often the comments on p.nut are far more interesting than the images.

Glenn, You seem more crtical of the model and pose rather than the image. This is a pity. I do appreciate you taking the time to give me your opinion.

Wayne, Thanks a lot. I too disagree with some of what Glenn has said but if we all liked the same images, the site would be a very boring one.

Thanks everyone!

Well, your tale really picked up my attention. I think it is quite funny shot. As gymnastics pose it is not really very well done, but it takes nothing away from the positive humorous feeling this photo has. You know they say that it is in the eye of the beholder, what ever it is. Never mind stupid comments, just keep going and producing more like this.

Thanks for the comment. It isn't a gymnastics shot as such. The young lady is a dance teacher and is able to get into all sorts of positions. This is one of her poses. I am glad you like it.

there is an endearing, childlike wonder about what you photograph, and how you photograph what you choose to photograph, that reveals a sort of naughty amazement about the world of girls in particular, a playfulness that is innocent and FUN...

Isn't funny with all the other images we may have that could say "your a sick bastard" they always pick the image that doesn't really even hint to it...? I would write that comment off as another person on the long list of people who are jealous of you because you get to hang out day after day with scantily clad women...beautiful ones at that!

Although I think this pose shows her powerful body off... It's not flattering in my opinion... Fun...hell yes...! The colors against the black background set the tone of the fun thats about to begin...her attitude....her smile...her confidence...her strengths...captured. juan

Dismissing the remark was quite easy. I can't actually remember which site I saw that message on now. (My mind is going.)

As I said, fun is the order of the day. It is with all of my images. Fun is the only reason I take photographs and if it wasn't fun I wouldn't do it.

I get your point about it not being flattering but I do disagree. I think we need to determine what we mean by flattering. Perhaps our understanding of the word are different.

I do appreciate you taking so much time to comment. You are very kind.
