jeff.grant 0 Posted September 11, 2008 Time to get the clippers out, Liz. There's some beautiful light going to waste behind that seed head. Link to comment
color 3 Posted September 11, 2008 Jeff is right about the light, but then, it wouldn't be different without the seed pod. Link to comment
lizweisiger 0 Posted September 11, 2008 Jeff and Chuck, this image just did not translate well onto PN. The light here is too bright for me too. As far as the crop, I kind of like those seed pods, because they add interest to what is basically a flower shot. For the life of me, I cannot seem to upload images the way I leave them in PS. I am going to repost for critique only. Please tell me what you think. I really appreciate your time. Link to comment
ray.koushik 0 Posted September 11, 2008 I agree with Jeff. The seed-pot is more of an obstruction here than bringing out the beauty. you also loose structure on the petals due to the bright light. However, this version is better than the repost, imho. compliments -koushik Link to comment
lizweisiger 0 Posted September 11, 2008 Thank you for commenting, Koushik. I understand the dislike of the seed pods, but I still like them in the scene because they make it sort of weird and original. I guess maybe I'm alone in that thought, but I'm sort of like that in personality too - I just want something not so predictable. Link to comment
Lacerda 0 Posted September 11, 2008 lovely image, I do like the colors and the light shining on this beautiful flower. Well done. Best regards. Link to comment
jgalyon 0 Posted May 2, 2009 While I certainly respect everyone's right to express their opinion...(after all, when we put a photo up for critique...that's what we're asking for) yet I hesitate to suggest that my fellow photographers make major changes to their work. In this case, the pods are a major component of this picture, and one that drew me to it. They are different...and (as I think you said) without them...it's just another flower picture...a beautiful picture, but a more "typical picture"...that I see as having been totally stripped of YOUR VISION...of the picture. At that point, it becomes someone elses vision. That's my two cents worth! This is one of my favorite pictures from all the thousands I've seen on Pnet...or for that matter, anywhere else!
