hopsage 0 Posted September 15, 2008 Very dramatic. It must have been a hell of a bright sun, given how dark the sky is, with perfectly-exposed foreground features. I'm curious: would it be possible to bring back some of the blue in the sky, and would that be more true to your experience of the scene? I don't mind the dark sky as it is, but I see this effect all the time in images taken from the Himalayas and the Alps, and having never been to either, I don't know how well it corresponds to the actual experience of the photographers. iancoxleigh 0 Posted September 16, 2008 Absolutely fantastic perspective and a beautiful exposure. I love the hints of colour in the glacier and deep dark blue of the sky (sorry John). Great image. Link to comment
hopsage 0 Posted September 17, 2008 I don't dislike the dark blue of the sky. Galen Rowell shot many a fine mountain landscape with skies rendered this way, and I think Andras' work here is very dynamic. But it is an unnatural dark. At least I think so. My question was more whether this rendering was true to Andras' experience of being there (looking back on my first post, I think that my intention was unclear). For me, my experience of brilliant days like this has always included an awareness of brilliant blue in the sky. For example: http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6510243. It's different, but neither better nor worse. Link to comment
