Beautiful composition. But there're 2 light patches --- one at the top left corner and another 1 inch below along the left border. They're a bit distracting. The lighted area around her head is also a minor distraction. But these apart, the composition and the expression you capture are perfect and the title appropriate. compliments -koushik

Birte,

I see you're a guy on a mission, and we all have our missions. This picture is far better than some of the children of the rainforest shots. You've opened it up a little, included a secondary element besides the face, and toned down the flash. Her eyes are stunning.

That said, the title really bugs me (just my opinion, remember). There's something to the idea that a photo shouldn't have to depend on words to make itself understood. This particular title makes me feel like I'm being preached at (and I know people need to be preached at from time to time).

My question would be this: did she say, "What future do I have?" or are you putting words in her mouth? Either way, it's cool. But you might want to think a little bit about the power that words have to enhance or weaken a photograph.

Keep up the fight,

John

Dear Birte
I like your recent work about people that who have many pain and many of them are
children. I saw and see many children like them.
They must play, be pretty and smile, smile, smile But They feel pain and they can't
avoid it because their government destroyed their live and their world.
Their government steal their treasure.
Best regards

Hello I do like here your question, but to be honest with you, when I make a reflection about this question , I think that she has the same future as we have, "we are mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes" . Now about this picture, I like her face expression and the texture of that skin, very beautiful shot. God Bless You..

What an absolutely haunting expression. Although the title evokes both despair and hope, those eyes are looking brightly at the future! Very well captured. Best wishes

I feel the desire to capture this face and I am sure I will get her. She is around. Of course the small distractions that Koushik mentioned are there, and there is another at the top of her head. Yet the expression is so strong that those may be overlooked. A great portrait and documentary. Regards.
