Bob, what a beautiful piece of work! One of the reasons this image really stands out is in how you've managed to use a black background and still maintaned separation with the birds head and bill.

 

I might have dodged the shadow area under the neck (red area only) ever so slightly on the upper edges, but that's a personal preference thingie. Stunning piece.
