dougityb 0 Posted September 4, 2008 I had to crop this way down from the original capture to eliminate a lot of unwanted background, and I had to spruce up loose strands of hair because of wind. Is this final result ok? Link to comment
melissa_glenn 0 Posted September 4, 2008 Very nice monochrome-type image, with the green in the field picking up the green in her eyes. Very good expression. Maybe would have left a little more of the top of her head/hair in, but still a striking picture. Link to comment
mg 0 Posted September 4, 2008 It's a nice one, yes. But it would be cool to see what other cropping possibilities you may have had, because it's a little tight here, imo. Now here's another suggestion: that red one side and green on the other side attract a lot of attention: why not simply desaturate these background areas ? Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted September 4, 2008 Doug, am I going blind or is this a little soft? I like the idea of desaturating a little too. Link to comment
a.turhan 0 Posted September 4, 2008 It's hard to comment without knowing the original frame but as it is (leave the background, which you tried to avoid) this looks quite a natural shot with good tonal balance. Regards... Link to comment
cooltpmd 0 Posted September 4, 2008 My issue is with her pretty eyes ... I think you missed the focus slighlty. The crop is not an issue for me. Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted September 4, 2008 desaturaing might be an idea worth considering. It's a little soft, yes. I'm not sure why (camera shake, missed focus, ?). Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted September 4, 2008 Don't worry. I'll be the first to say it: I need to work on my background selection. Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted September 4, 2008 EXIF data says ISO 200 f/10, 1/160th, 24-70 zoom. She was moving, but hit her poses and held them. I think I was shaking with excitement, so it's probably my fault. I don't think it's too far out of focus to be unusable, though. If I had to choose, I'd prefer this over all camera shake out of focusness than having missed the focal point. Link to comment
wmhoodphoto 0 Posted September 4, 2008 Your bg selection might need some work but your model selection certainly doesn't! Link to comment
jkilgo 0 Posted September 4, 2008 Its obvious she can't take a bad picture...nice portrait...I think though that the other two you posted today are nicer. Link to comment
jaredhall 0 Posted December 15, 2008 Mr. Burgess, I love your portraits - this one in particular. I'm a VA amateur photographer (in the Roanoke area) - and it's inspiring to see great work! Thanks, Jared Link to comment
