aepelbacher 0 Posted September 1, 2008 I went back to the San Xavier del Bac mission at sunrise, and loved the sky and the light ... but still had difficulty getting any decent shots because of the scaffolding/construction. I'd love to go back there some day when there's no construction..... Anyway - there is a hill next to the mission (I believe it might be a cemetery), and this statue of a lion guarding it.... lucyhollis 2 Posted September 1, 2008 If an artist painted the sky of this sunrise, I'd think, well it's artist's license. If a photographer photographed this, normally I'd think, well it's PhotoShop. It gives so much interest to the sky but the lion and the cross still take centre stage. Great composition. aepelbacher 0 Posted September 1, 2008 Thanks, all! Lucy - no way this was photoshopped! I am not that talented. LOL! :-) These are those really high whispy clouds that sometimes happen at sunrise and float away in a half hour - and the rest of the day the sky is 100% blue, crystal clear without another puff of a cloud until sunset. The beauty of Arizona.... Link to comment
steven_ej 0 Posted September 2, 2008 Super fantastic photo Lou Ann!!! You've got the cross and the lion, and most important - an unbelievably attractive sky. Congratulations and a very attractive image :) I've been away from P.net for a few months - I've got to catch up a bit :) Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted September 2, 2008 It is not a cemetery; it is an exact replica of the Grotto of Lourdes. I might have been tempted to crop the FG road/trail from the bottom; and Curves might put a tad more detail in the hillside. Beautiful dawn sky! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
