cromwell1664877587 0 Posted September 1, 2008 I shot these two obvious friends in Hallo Bay - Katmai a few days ago. Link to comment
ndj 0 Posted September 1, 2008 Superb capture. Nice work. My only complaint would be the background. I'd like to see it either clearer, or with more bokeh. That's getting a bit fussy though. I'd be extremely pleased with such a great capture.Neil Link to comment
peter.blum 0 Posted September 1, 2008 Hi Scott, A rare shot with a very fitting title. Indeed it seems they are very good friends. Perhaps they met after a long absence... How far away were you? Did you take it in the open? The image is faultless. And to me the background is not pulling the image down in any major way. Good contrast and natural, delicate colors. Very well done and a shot you don't get to see very often - irrespective of internet site. You have my admiration. All the best Peter Link to comment
cromwell1664877587 0 Posted September 1, 2008 Thanks everyone. Peter, I'm not sure how far away I was. I would guess 40-50 yards. I was standing in the same spot as this picture only turned a little, which is on the edge of a river bed, but out in the open with no brush around. I shot this at 135mm with a 100-400mm lens on, thinking the background made the picture. I ended up having to crop half of it away. Some shots I was zoomed in on them and others were like this one. vancouverphotographer 0 Posted September 2, 2008 I like the crop, the background's interesting for the image but I like putting the focus on the bears for sure. Link to comment
joe james 0 Posted September 2, 2008 Wonderful shot! Great composition, focus and what a scene. To see two of these magnificent animals behaving in that way must have been quite the sight. Great capture 7/7. Link to comment
cromwell1664877587 0 Posted September 2, 2008 It was quite the sight, Joseph. It was even better to be able to shoot it. Here's one shot 40 seconds later, showing it wasn't just a quick shot and it was over. Link to comment

bgelfand 1,236 Posted September 12, 2008 Great shot. Scott, you are a brave fellow to get that close to bears in the wild. Link to comment
