tonmestrom 4 Posted August 31, 2008 the first thing that sprang to mind in looking at the thumbnail was Cindy Sherman. This looks so doll-like and even the colouring would fit in with her series. It even has the same ominous feel, David seems to sense the same here as me. In short I really like this one very much. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted August 31, 2008 The eerie green of nightvision. I like how a person can conjecture all sorts of delicious thoughts based on the wiggling feet. Link to comment
giuseppe_pasquali 0 Posted August 31, 2008 and well done, the choice of tone and the compo are really interesting. Thank you, G. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 1, 2008 This has an other-worldly feel to me. It's unusual and odd which makes me respond to it. I also think the figures have a doll-like or unreal feel to them. Almost as if this is another planet. I think adding to that feel is not only the blue-green color tone but the vignetting which almost gives the feel of a spotlight, like the helicopters are circling as the pods are taking over. The texture is very noticeable, the softness and smoothness of the legs against the roughness of the gravel. Also, I like the way the light moves my eye, as the highlights get richer in gradation as we move to the right of the frame. Here's one that's both creative and thoughtful. Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted September 1, 2008 the color, light (with vignetting) makes it appear like something in the imaginary world... the provocative crop also triggers the imagination...it appeals to the inconscious which I believe was your goal....really nice.... For me, such highly subjective composition and treatment is always a bit in the extreme with the risk of being on the psycho cliche or on the mannerism side... I think you avoid both with it's simplicity (the simple leg expression to be precise) making it appear like a dream and child imaginery world... Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted September 2, 2008 I think you have discovered the door to The Twilight Zone, Laurent. These last pictures are not of this earth. Link to comment
godfather 0 Posted September 2, 2008 Great minimalistic compositio. Fun part is... First thing to see when this opens is the "KODAK SAFETY..." text. After that the next thing is this couple's feet... Go figure what kind of message that gives ;D Link to comment
bretsch 0 Posted September 2, 2008 Funny!......I thought about plastic dolls at first too; this is definitely one of those works that need more than just one look, as has been said already, the vigneting, the blue tint and the composition are really adding up to make this a very enticing photograph. There's not much more to say, than: Congratulations! Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 3, 2008 My thought looking at at firstwas "another planet" ;-)).....so bizarre ,in color and form, a mystery, very artistic use of bluish/green light( and shadow) and texture. I'm still looking and enjoying! great idea and execution Link to comment

.th 0 Posted September 9, 2008 quite nuclear. whatever that means..?. 35, followed by 36a is priceless of course ,-)joking aside, i think the frame messes with the photo a little,.. no, plenty in fact. i think the photo would stand much stronger without it, and it's strong indeed. Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted September 10, 2008 Thorir, thanks. Wanted to get as nuclear with the frame as with the picture, if you see what I mean, so you know, I gave it a try... Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted October 25, 2008 don't know how i missed this before. i also thought of dolls at first. love the framing and the ironic twist of the "safety film" on a discomforting image. Link to comment
