how to improve this shot? I came to this community to get helpful

suggestions from fellow photographers. Thanks in advance!

and there isn't much detail in the face.

The previous comment states nothing but the obvious. You, I would have squinted too, looking into this low sunlight. There is nothing wrong with this picture, except for the previuos comment. Totally true image of the situation, your picture. Good framing, details, ...

 

Of course it is not beautificated and homogenized like the previous commenter apparently likes his/her pics. So what? Keep taking such beauiful shots and let us rate them high 7s or 8s!

Uno de los grandes retos de la fotografía: La fotografía a contra-luz. No obstante la buena composición, el destello del sol predomina y desvía la vista del sujeto principal. Tal vez poniendo al pescador exactamente entre el sol y el fotografo se pudiese obtener un resultado muy interesante, obviamente guardando la regla de los tercios.

También esta me gusta, la escena en general es muy pintoresca y evocativa. La composición es buena, con el pescador al costado (casi en los tercios...) y la iluminación me gusta precisamente por el rango entre el brillo y la sombra. Sin embargo, el pescador no está tan oscuro que no podamos distinguir perfectamente quién es y qué hacey por otro lado, al no mostrar todos los detalles le das un aspecto intemporal que es muy atractivo (esta imágen podría ser de 1960 y seguramente las cosas en punta umbría van a verse así en 2020). Gracias por una imagen para soñar!

great shot. i like that we can't distinguish this fisherman from any other. that's the point isn't it?! there's a million fisherman just like this one that set out into the ocean everyday. this is what this picture means to me.

technically, i like the blown out water. it draws our attention to the real protagonist of this picture - the water.

 

Hi, Alberto. I think you used very nice the light (agains sun) to obtain nice silhouette. The fisherman is preparing his net and the background with boats tells very well about his work and location. Well composed.

Muy buen contraluz, la silueta bien, sin perder detalles como para saber qué es lo que está haciendo este hombre.

Este tipo de foto en contra luz es dificil y siempre pone opciones al fotógrafo.Es verdad que el água no ha quedado bien. En mi opinion, una solucion podría ser cojer la luz del água y todo el fondo quedaría mejor. El pescador quedaría en sillueta, pero la barca también y no habría detalle en esta. Una decisión dificil. Un abrazo.

El pescador, habla con la luna, el pescador, habla con la playa, el pescador no tiene fortuna solo su atarraya...
