amalsircar 2 Posted August 29, 2008 Laurent, excellent composition and colour contrast. The white lines enhances the beauty of the image. Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted August 29, 2008 the sun is just slightly on the other side....you are a little provocateur Mr Lacoste....in the not so distant past, people like you would end up in jail....in the mean time we will leave you the benefit of doubt but be warned that this kind of provocative image and composition cannot be tolerated anymore....we suggest you now make easy to digest image because in our trouble times we cannot allow images that force people to think and imagine... Jack McRitchie 150 Posted August 29, 2008 The Society For Better Photography has been forced to issue a warning to one L. Lacoste for posting pointless images of nothing which only serve to confuse viewers of the photographic arts. You are reminded of our list of ACCEPTABLE subjects; photographs of bare roadways and fences and whatever that is peeking out from the corner will NOT be tolerated. We are all for creativity but within reasonable bounds. Yours sincerely, J. Worthington Coolpix. Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted August 29, 2008 Dear Sirs, I hereby plaid guilty of all charges and apologize to the venerable and distinguished members of the committee for such improper behaviour and manipulation of the photographic art. I promise I will do my best to be true to the high standard of achievement required to apply for membership to the Society. I will therefore make considerable efforts to hone my skills and at last be able to shoot only the most noble subjects such as sunsets, flowers, fruits, monuments, flamboyant landscapes and the most elegant portraiture. Last but not least, I can assure you that despite my mediocre achievements so far, my motivation for the art has remained intact. Sincerely yours, Lawrence P. Tiltstraight. Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted August 29, 2008 we shall therefore in the name of the venerable association accept your application...but be aware that a warning has been issued and will only be released upon proper behaviour over a moderated period whose duration will only be known to the moderator whose name is Godot... godfather 0 Posted August 29, 2008 If less is more, this has to go even beyond that limit. This is well composed and a pleasure to view. Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted August 29, 2008 Laurent: thanks Godot it's Friday. Tero: thank you very much for visiting. I'm flattered to read a sentence frequently pronounced by my all-time favourite architect, applied here to some pic of mine. As you know, "less is more" was Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe's motto, and this great master of the Bauhaus brilliantly spent his life proving it. I think I have never seen anything more balanced, more perfect, harmonious and pure in line and proportions than Mies Van Der Rohe's houses and furniture. His Barcelona chair, which he designed in 1929 and is still a classic today is my favourite and influenced my approach to all the things that I see. Link to comment

jeffl7 0 Posted August 31, 2008 Less is more. An overused, but apt saying. My eye goes to the one little leaf, separated by that great wall from nature peeking over the other side. Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted August 31, 2008 Thanks. A saying so overused that not everybody knows now that it was Ludwig Mies's. I'm often surprised not to see more people know about the prominent influence of the Bauhaus school on 20th century Art and Architecture. Link to comment
