Now that's some crepuscular light. Nice sky diagonals and supported by the angle of the causeway too. Sweet shot! Cheers! Chris

while I don't know what crepuscular is (referring to the time of day maybe?) I think the light here looks rather ominous to me which gives the included bridge some unusual connotations which I actually like. Speaking of that bridge, why the heavy tilt?

Thanks Mike and Ton. Twilight or pre-dawn is what crepuscular means, though I think of it as pre-dawn or post-dusk light which reveals itself as beams of color. Are you referring to the pilings leaning inward? Just sloppy post-processing I guess. It is actually a result of the wide angle used. I will post-process this again and attempt to correct the perspective. In fact, I must re-do, as when I made the file for the web, I used an action to re-size, but I forgot to make a duplicate of the tiff file. How's that for sloppy post-processing?

Mark, I like this a lot. It's certainly a twist on the classic God beams shot. If it were mine, I would crop from the left to almost the bottom of the large cloud. It seems to strengthen the overall shot, IMHO.

Thanks Jeff, I like your crop as well. I was hoping to convey the "spokes" of light fanning outward. I guess this could almost go square as another version. While this may not be for everyone (the ratings sure reflect that), I take a certain amount of pride in the blending of the two exposures. To me, this is one of the more natural looking blends I have pulled off.

Mark, I stopped myself from suggesting a square, although it did occur to me. I didn't pick it as an HDR shot. I have seen very few that looked natural, and don't go near the technique.I thought that it would have been done with a grad.

As for ratings, I have long ago given up there. My current love of softer palettes almost guarantees me invisibility.

although I can understand (I think) why you'd wanna crop here I feel that would be a mistake. It would change the sense of scale, where it now shows a certain vastness it would no longer do so. Besides your composition would become rather unbalanced with that bridge so prominent there and the light radiating over all of the horizon.

As for ratings, look here: http://photo.net/site-feedback-forum/00QcQF

Besides being unvisible for raters doesn't mean much. I've just looked at your work Jeff. Just as Mark's I think it is highly salable in the gallery circuit.

This is a gem. I don't mind the tilted bridge, as long as the horizon is straight, which it is. The light is what makes this picture really shine.

Beautiful capture with some excellent light and clouds. Glad to see you're home safe and sound. Maybe your next trip we'll be able to hook up?

Welcome back. I can't even tell you how many different ways this appeals to me. Looks like you nailed the lighting on this one. Beautiful work on this one Mark...RAY

Thanks Boeboe, Leo and Ray. Good to be back. The skies were awesome the week I was in Miami, and much of the time I could not take advantage of it. Just getting out a couple of times was great. Thanks for your thoughts on this image.
