paolo de faveri 1 Posted August 28, 2008 Taken yesterday evening from the Col dell'Agnello, a pass at more than 2700 m. in the Western Alps, linking Italy to France. This will probably be my last post for a while, as I'm leaving to Corsica on Sunday morning for a couple of weeks of holiday. See you back on the mid of September... :-) Details: Eos 400D, Tokina ATX-Pro 12-24 f4, B+W 110 ND, GND 8x, tripod. 4'45" @f18 Link to comment

paullink 1 Posted August 28, 2008 Superb landscape Paolo, three-four local levels and a wonderful pale palette of colors.Best regards Link to comment
anish 0 Posted August 28, 2008 Incredible light and background. In my opinion, the foreground (while nice) does not hold its own against the background. so while this is a beautiful image, i feel it might work more effectively as a telephoto shot isolating the background. Take off about 1/3 from the bottom to see what i mean. Again, the background leaves me in awe. Anish Link to comment
emanuelecarapacchio 0 Posted August 28, 2008 Complimenti, hai colto un momento che sfiora la magia. Ottima esposizione e scelta di luce. Saluti, Emanuele. Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted August 29, 2008 Paolo, I find this very intense for many reasons. I don't agree with Anish about the foreground. I partially agree that it doesn't rate as highly as the background (not many things could compare), but it makes a great launch pad for the eyes to jump into the scene. Obviously, this scene would be immense if it were cropped above the rock and grass, but I think its inclusion adds depth. Without, the scene would appear as though from an airborne perch, but the rock and grass provide the viewer with a place to stand. This is my favorite of your recent posts and perhaps of your humbling portfolio. Link to comment
ewert02 0 Posted August 29, 2008 This is pretty spectacular. The midground and background are absolutely amazing. The foreground is okay, but I'm not sure about it. I would be interested in seeing some shots that you took from the other side of the rock that focused on that magic in the background, although this one is still very nice and a winner, imo. Thanks for sharing. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted August 29, 2008 Very dramatic image. Personally, I like the foreground, as it adds context and depth to the image. The fact that it is relatively light in color helps as well. If I were to tweak the image, I might try a bit off the sky, about 50% above the white cloud in the center. Or I'd leave it as is and be perfectly happy. Link to comment

yves_p 0 Posted August 29, 2008 Splendid picture. I like the composition with three different levels linked by the same orange sunlight. I also like the contrasting colours (orange and blue) and the depth of field associated with the colourful foreground. Congratulations. Yves P. (PS: I find it a bit dark, see attached). gallego 1 Posted August 29, 2008 Impresionate paisaje. Perfecto en perspectiva y luces. Para mi es perfecto el color y la fuerza del trabajo original. Demasiado tarde para los merecidos 7s. Saludos. Link to comment

stp 6 Posted September 4, 2008 Yves, I agree that it is a bit dark, but I think that's in keeping with the overall mood of the photo. Plus, it's only natural (due to topography and the position of the sun) for the foreground to be darker, yet it's not so dark that I can't see any detail. Link to comment
melloncollie 0 Posted January 20, 2010 i think the original framing and tone are perfect. because such sceneries are happening after sunset or before sunrise, not at full daylight, thats why is better to keep a bit darker ( and indeed, for better mood). and yes, the most interesting part is the background but without the foreground it became flat. excellent shot.
