Canon 600mm + 1.4 Converter

Its a very nice capture of an elusive species. I've spent hours stalking these guys but 500mm just isn't enough. Out of curiosity, did you use a remote shutter release and a tripod or was this handheld?

Did you hand held the 600 ? :)

Ryan & Diana I live on a small lake (or mabye a big pond) these guys are all over the place (Im lucky)so I just wait for one to come by while I sit in the woods.The lens is on a trypod.

You just keep posting exceptional nature photo after exceptional nature photo! This is great. I love the position and detail of the wing and the individual feathers all splayed out. The slight parting of the beak is nice too.

 

My only minor quibble is with the small mark just above the branch, right on the very frame edge. It should be cropped or cloned out.
