Guest Guest Posted September 3, 2008 I like the dramatic, yet soft, sky, its deep blueness of dusk. The bird about to leave the frame is a nice dusk symbol, adds poignancy to the mood. The fading light in the sky as we move toward the horizon is effective as well to create depth to the scene and longing to the mood. I wonder if this has been sharpened quite a bit. I see yellow outlines around both the bird and the smaller jutting rock and the multi-color sparkles in the water feel a bit pixellated to me, although effective in their beauty and luster. rekaras 0 Posted September 3, 2008 super image, title may be better as the FLIGHT OF DUSK, as it would reflect both the gulls retreat and that of the day. Just me, good capture and thank you for your recent comments, rek Link to comment
dougbrill 0 Posted September 3, 2008 Hi Fred, Thanks for the comment. No sharpening here just increased contrast considerably and played with the brightness. This is an image I shot some time ago and was not shooting RAW at the time. That may have something to do with it. Hey RichardI totally agree with the title. That is what I meant just putting the words together is still sometime backwards for me. I hope you don't mind that I changed the title to your recommendation. Thanks Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 6, 2008 Doug, it is a very well observed scene, the diagonal direction of special sky with the bird that looks like flying from the rock ( imaginative diagonal line...). the wavelets on the water, all feels like a lot of windy weather and some stormy atmospher. I wonder what is the white line on the L.? Link to comment
dougbrill 0 Posted September 8, 2008 Hi Pnina, It is the wake of an airplane. Very common around the Los angeles area. Thanks for the comment. Link to comment

blue-olympus 0 Posted September 30, 2008 Love this scene,,the bird makes it all happen. The cloud system is wonderful to look at...The horizon is in need of straightening but super shot..Bravo! Link to comment
dougbrill 0 Posted September 30, 2008 Thanks Keith and you are right about the horizon. This is shot with a 12mm lens so there is a small curve to the horizon as well. Link to comment
