David:

You may go to sleep tonight knowing someone likes this image a great deal. I think it is an excellent composition and it is just enough out of focus to give it a healthy dose of abstraction. I would not be surprised if our mutual friend Bianca would like it as well.

-Cheers

Thanks Owen, If I was to guess that anyone actually did like this it would be you. The fact that you have commented on it makes me very happy. I knew this wouldn't be one that everyone would like.

I think you must have been on the JJ&S again Owen. It's in perfect focus to me.

I do hope Bianca drops by. Thanks again Owen.

Apparently, this is what happens when one consumes alcohol in the direct sunlight! The tones are superb and the blurring inspires mystery!

There's a sense of the real-but-not-real to this image. The two empty chairs suggest waiting or anticipation to me, or possibly even a sense of someone recently having left the scene. There's a nice contradiction in form here as well. The angular shadows cast by the chairs against the circular pattern formed by the rectangular bricks on the left.

Another thought: If it had been in focus, I'd immediately have thought, "Henri Brassai." Since it's blurry, there's no artist I can compare it to.

Do I like it? Yes, absolutely. Do I know why? No, not really, other than the fact that the photograph is different for you, is open to so many interpretations, and that it actually makes me think about what I'm looking at. Oh, yes...and it's in black and white.

Do not under estimate us David! ;-) I enjoy this viewing. Jim, (comment above) said it all quite nicely. I echo his thoughts. Thank you for sharing your vision with us. Regards, Doug.

Jim, Being honest, I am not sure the image deserves your comment. This was a result of luck more than judgement. I do like it myself and yet I don't know why either. This makes your comment all the more humbling. Thanks a lot.

Doug, Kind words too. Perhaps if I had meant to take this, I would feel a little more easy about the praise. As one of my teachers always told me, 'You can't be good all of the time and when your not it is good to be lucky.'
